The population of Brisbane is booming and the environment is increasingly stretched to the brink. With food security at tipping point, it is time to take control of the way we live. Producing our own food on site in a sustainable manner is the way forward.
Urban Sprout is dedicated to the evolution of the suburb into a place of life and productivity.
The design reimagines the fernery typology as a productive garden. The scheme provides the foundation for which a harmonious and interesting combination of local industry and residences brings farming pursuits to the city.
The master plan is intentionally designed to provide a series of spaces and add ons that can be transformed by the community. Spaces may be converted into places of industrial endeavour or add ons may house impromptu activities that help support the residents and wider Sunnybank community.
Set in Sunnybank, Urban Sprout integrates a contemporary Asian influence with the memory of Sunnybank's agricultural past.
